Evelyn Acevedo is the Executive Director of Puerto Rican Unity for Progress, responsible for the overall administration of the organization, founded in 1976 as a nonprofit that promotes improved access to economic, social, and cultural opportunities and resources to individuals and their families with special emphasis on the Hispanic Community through the services and advocacy programs offered.

Evelyn Acevedo, formerly an employee of Puerto Rican Unity for Progress as a Project Coordinator, today is the Executive Director at Puerto Rican Unity for Progress. A dedicated, hardworking individual , bilingual in English & Spanish and an extended background in customer service and over 20 years of administrative experience she is committed in serving the Latin Community in the City of Camden. She understands the mission of the organization, supervises and coordinates programs that support the well-being of the organization and the clients and serves with special emphasis on the Latin community and the undocumented population.

Puerto Rican unity for Progress is a nonprofit organization located in the downtown section of the City of Camden, New Jersey that assists low-income residents of the Camden City community and empowers them to become self-sufficient and independent members of society (particularly the Hispanic population). Puerto Rican Unity for Progress seeks to protect and advocate the population’s rights to obtain needed goods and services, as well as to reduce physical, cultural, language, and psychological barriers.
